Safari Itinerary
Day 1: Mombasa/Diani – Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary
- Pick-Up Time: 05:00 AM
Begin your journey with an early morning pick-up from your hotel or residence along the coast (Mombasa, Diani, or nearby areas). - Drive Time: Approximately 4 hours via the Mombasa–Nairobi Highway to Voi Town, where you turn off toward the Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary.
Mid-Morning Game Drive:
Upon entering the sanctuary, enjoy a guided game drive en route to the lodge. The sanctuary is known for its dense populations of elephants, lions, buffalos, giraffes, zebras, antelopes, and a wide variety of birds.
Check-In at Saltlick Safari Lodge:
Arrive at the iconic Salt Lick Safari Lodge, built on stilts above a watering hole. This unique lodge offers unbeatable wildlife viewing right from the reception and your room.
Lunch & Relaxation:
Enjoy lunch at the lodge, followed by some downtime — you can relax, take in the scenery, or watch animals gather at the waterhole.
Afternoon Game Drive: 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM
Head out for a sunset safari and witness the reserve come alive with predators and grazers as the day cools.
Dinner & Overnight at Salt Lick Safari Lodge
Day 2: Taita Hills – Return to Mombasa/Diani
- Pre-Breakfast Game Drive: 6:30 AM – 8:30 AM
Start the day with an early morning game drive to catch nocturnal wildlife returning to shelter and predators on the prowl. - Breakfast & Check-Out
Return to the lodge for breakfast, then check out. - Game Drive En Route to Exit
Enjoy a final game drive as you exit the sanctuary. - Drive Back to the Coast
Depart the sanctuary and travel back to your hotel. Arrival around 2:30 PM, just in time for a late lunch and some well-earned rest.
