Terms & Conditions

Please read the following Terms and Conditions carefully. They outline important information regarding your rights, obligations, and the limitations that apply when booking a safari or holiday experience with Jira Dream Safaris.

These terms become effective from the moment your reservation is confirmed and a deposit is received.

1. Booking and Payment Terms

To confirm your booking, a non-refundable deposit of 20% of the total tour cost is required. A formal booking contract between you and Jira Dream Safaris is established only upon receipt of this deposit and issuance of a written confirmation from the Company.

The remaining balance must be paid no later than 14 days prior to the start of your safari (unless an alternative payment schedule has been agreed upon in writing).

2. Cancellation by Client

Because significant operational costs are incurred prior to the tour, cancellation fees are necessary. All cancellations must be submitted in writing by the person who made the booking, and sent via email to your primary contact at Jira Dream Safaris, with a copy to: travel@jiradreamsafaris.com

Cancellation fees are applied as follows:

  • 30+ days before departure – Loss of deposit
  • 15–29 days before departure – 30% of total tour cost
  • 7–14 days before departure – 50% of total tour cost
  • 6 days or fewer before departure – 80% of total tour cost

Note: Tailor-made or custom itineraries may be subject to different cancellation terms, which will be clearly communicated at the time of booking.

Once the tour has commenced, no refund will be provided for any unused services or early departure. Any changes made by you during the tour, including leaving the tour early, will be entirely at your own expense. Notification of any such change must be made in writing to your tour guide or coordinator.

3. Cancellation by Jira Dream Safaris

Jira Dream Safaris reserves the right to cancel your booking for any reason prior to full payment being received. In such cases, we will issue a full refund of all monies paid.

After full payment has been made, cancellations will only occur under unavoidable circumstances beyond our control (force majeure), including but not limited to: civil unrest, natural disaster, war, pandemic, terrorism, or extreme weather events. In these cases, you will be offered an equivalent alternative or a full refund.

No additional compensation will be provided.

4. Changes and Alterations

While we make every effort to adhere to the published itinerary, circumstances may occasionally require changes either before or during the safari. Minor changes will be communicated promptly. Jira Dream Safaris reserves the right to alter routes, accommodations, or activities in the interest of safety or logistical necessity.

No compensation will be paid for changes arising from force majeure events such as strikes, government actions, adverse weather, natural calamities, or other external factors beyond our control.

5. Responsibilities and Liability

Jira Dream Safaris shall not be held responsible for:

  • Airline or train delays and cancellations
  • Embassy or consulate visa delays
  • Closure of tourist sites or accommodations by authorities
  • Injury, illness, theft, or loss of personal belongings
  • Failure of third-party service providers such as hotels or activity partners

6. Travel Insurance (Mandatory)

Comprehensive travel insurance is mandatory for all clients. You are required to arrange your own insurance at the time of booking, covering:

  • Personal injury or medical emergencies
  • Repatriation
  • Trip interruption, cancellation or curtailment
  • Lost, stolen, or delayed luggage

Proof of insurance may be requested prior to departure. Jira Dream Safaris shall not be liable for any medical costs or claims arising during the safari.

7. Medical Issues

Should a client fall ill during the safari, all medical and hospital expenses, including repatriation costs, will be at the client’s own expense. Jira Dream Safaris is not liable to provide refunds for unused tour portions due to illness.

8. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Kenya. By booking a tour with Jira Dream Safaris, you agree to submit to the jurisdiction of Kenyan courts in the event of any dispute.
